Oxygen Hood
$42.99 USD
Application
The Oxygen Hood is designed to deliver supplemental oxygen during short-term treatments in a less restrictive and potentially less stressful environment.
It provides an alternative to a handheld anaesthesia mask or nasal cannulas, which may be difficult to secure, labour-intensive to use, or stressful for the animal.
Features
- Easy to place over the patient’s head
- Secures by tightening the drawstring around the hood
- Two ports for oxygen input and carbon dioxide output
- Transparent front window for continuous patient monitoring
- Zippered opening for monitoring leads
- Available in five sizes
Additional Equipment Required
VetMedWear supplies the Oxygen Hood and the adapting nozzle for the ports.
An oxygen concentrator or oxygen tank, along with compatible connecting tubing, must be purchased separately to operate the Oxygen Hood.
How to Administer Oxygen
The Oxygen Hood may be used with an oxygen tank or a portable oxygen concentrator capable of continuous operation when necessary, provided that it meets the oxygen flow requirements recommended by the veterinarian.
Oxygen flow rate, frequency, and duration depend on the individual patient and the veterinarian’s recommendation.
Oxygen concentrators may be purchased through veterinary distributors or other appropriate suppliers.
Sizing
The Oxygen Hood is available in five sizes: XS, S, M, L, and XL. The sizes are based on the diameter of the front opening of the hood.
To determine the correct size, measure the width of the animal’s head between the ears and compare the measurement with the size chart.
Step 1: Measure the distance between the animal’s ears.
Step 2: Compare the measurement with the size chart shown in the second product image.
When the measurement falls between two sizes, select the next size up to ensure sufficient room. For example, if the measurement is 8.4 inches, choose the medium size rather than the small size.
Important Information
Supplemental oxygen should be administered under the direction of a licensed veterinary professional. Oxygen flow, frequency, and treatment duration must be determined according to the patient’s needs.
This product does not include an oxygen source and is not a substitute for emergency veterinary treatment.
